A Message to Our Crawlers for 2020

April 22, 2020

The crawl is changing! This is a hard time for all of our shops and customers.  In the spirit of “embracing change” we are trying an added “couch crawl” this year.  Whether you are located in Florida, Maine, or Washington, you can participate in the online crawl! For passport holders, any purchases from our participating shops from May 22 through Sept. 7, 2020 will be eligible for the “stamp” in your passport.  This includes online, pick-up, delivery, and in-person purchases, but you must make a purchase (and indicate you are a crawler) if you are crawling online.  Stores will be stamping or distributing stickers which you will place in your passport.  All patterns will be available via Ravelry code as in the past.  Some shops may offer printed copies upon request.  When and where possible, stamps/stickers will be distributed in person once shops reopen and travel is allowed again.

Once you have completed a region you may submit photos of your passport (front page plus stamped pages) at www.slowcrawl.com to be entered in the regional prize drawings.  If possible, you may also submit your entries in-person at the shops.

We have a new #2020SYCExperienceChallenge this year and want to see your photos.  We have prizes donated by Nomadic Knits, BlackSheep Fiber Emporium, and Kokomo Yarns this year.  Every two weeks throughout the crawl we will draw a prize winner from your Facebook or Instagram posts completing an Experience Challenge.   A list of experiences is in your passport.  Make sure to tag it #2020SYCExperienceChallenge.

As a bonus for crawlers, any purchases from BlackSheep Fiber Emporium where you comment “Slow Yarn Crawl” will be entered into a special extra drawing for at least 3 more prizes.

This is new to us, and while we hope a situation like this never happens again, we are trying to support our small shops while still making this a fun experience for all of our crawlers.
