Stilly River Knit- Pop! Goes the Teasel
2023 Slow Yarn Crawl pattern from Stilly River Yarns!
Pop! Goes the Teasel by Stilly River Yarns
I live in a rural area with lots of interesting roadside plants, and one of my favorites is the teasel (Dipsacus fullonum). As it so happens, I recently learned that this plant - sometimes called the fuller’s teasel - was used to raise the nap on woven cloth as part of the finishing process! I decided to pay homage to this humble plant and its place in the hand-processed fiber industry by incorporating it as a textured motif in a slouchy beanie hat.
